Out-Patients Department


The Hospital has a very busy Out-Patients Department. On average, 600 patients visit OPD every day from all over the country. They have respiratory symptoms and come for diagnosis or those who have diagnosed respiratory diseases ,come for specialized treatment.

Emergency patients are immediately referred for admission and treatment. All kinds of patients of TB (TB of lungs and other parts of body) and other chest diseases are diagnosed, treated and managed accordingly. Routine cases who need admission are admitted and others prescribed treatment. The new achievement is the establishment of DOTS Unit, where TB patients are diagnosed and treated free of cost according to WHO guidelines. Follow up of patients, discharged from wards is also done in OPD where patients are provided drugs free of charge for a total period of 08 months.

Brief History

Lala Lajpat Rai was a well known figure in the political and social circles of pre¬-Independence India. His mother, Gulab Devi, died of TB in Lahore. In order to perpetuate her memory, Lala Lajpat Rai established a Trust in 1927 to build and run a TB Hospital for women reportedly at the spot where she had breathed her last.
