Mian, Don’t Do it!

The Chairman of the Managing Committee of Gulab Devi Chest Hospital, inspired by the healthcare arrangements abroad, wants to implement the idea of dining halls so that the patients may be served meals collectively. He arranges for construction of halls and the practice starts. Soon he comes to know that the patients have refused to take meals in dining halls. Annoyed, he himself visits the dining halls when the meal is served. He wants to know the reason for this attitude. An elderly patient comes to him and says: “Mian (Sir), don’t do it”. Why? The Chairman is eager to know. With tears in his eyes, the old man explains: “The meal which is served here is sufficient for our kids also: they cannot avail this if we are served meal in dining halls”.

Impressed with his argument, the Chairman reversed his decision.
